Sometimes files need to be zip compressed to post online efficiently, while still making it obvious graphically what kind of file it is. It would be useful to be able to define a particular custom icon to display for different file types.

Showing when a document was modified/updated infront of/behind the name of the document would allow users to quickly view how recent the document is.

As Joomla 1.7 (and 2.5) are ACL ready, it will be awesome to use Core ACL in order to manage Docman groups. Could also be easier to manage the ACL via ACLmanager

I have 20 categories with more being added, i have to add cat id for each new category as its created.

By having the reverse option i can exclude one category and new ones would automatically be displayed

It would be nice if you can upload multiple document at once, like attaching multiple documents to ab e-mail.

It would be great when you can choose a group to send a notification mail with a download possibility to when you upload a file as administrator.

So you can place a agenda and select a group that's invited so they can download the agenda.

This way the administrator can place agenda's en notules and the group members get a notification and then be able to download the file.

Modules, like latestdown, is expected to display the thumbnail next to the link to download sites. This should be configurable in the module.

The thumbnails are stored in the root folder "images". Thumbnails of DOCman are mixed with other images, the root folder "images" becomes a catch all.

Should be able to configure the folder where the DOCman thumbnails are stored ?

Give the option (in accordance with the Thumbnails-plugin) - to have a "gallery" layout for documents. This will open up a huge new market for people who wish to offer vector files, stock digital art and other image-formats (zipped) to the public. Perhaps just the option to display thumbnails in more than one column?

Possibility in Config to set the guest acces level to: browse AND view AND download. This would make it possible for me to disable guests ability to browse BUT will make sure that they can Download the file which link I gave them.

The UI is too porky and takes up too much space, especially for tens or hundreds or thousands of documents. Add ability to turn off Download and Details and, in general, just tidy up the UI so it wastes less space.

At the moment the HOT label is assigned to all files when the number of downloads is X or over. But when a file is 2-3 years old this isn't very useful. It should reflect the age of the file as well. This is why I think you should have the option to 'Only display HOT label when downloads >= X and days since new =< Y'
